The big part that got me in the manga was that when Jinbei asked what he had left, Luffy started counting with his fingers. It doesn’t say or show what he’s counting, but it’s obviously…his crew. I didn’t like how the anime handled it though.
Yeah, I think I like that more. Has a little something more to it. Well off to bed for me. We’ll have to chat more for sure though.
You said you just got to the part where Luffy went back to Marineford. So you saw the scene with Jinbei beating sense into Luffy and making him realize that he still had his crew, right? I really didn’t like how the anime did that part.

Yeah, Dragonball and DBZ are a lot different. And One Piece was in many ways inspired by the original Dragonball. It was hard for me to keep from reading the OP manga too, but I’m glad I did. I think the manga portrays a lot of scenes better.

I’m not a huge Naruto fan either. I used to be like a Naruto/Bleach fanboy. But I fell out of both once I got into One Piece. Are you caught up with the One Piece anime or the manga? The manga is like a year ahead of where the anime is right now.
We are just watching the anime. Haven’t read the manga yet, though we do own the first two books (got at used bookshop for low price). I was thinking of reading the manga but I like being surprised at what happens when watching the show. Don’t know if I’ll be able to resist the temptation to read the manga once we’re caught up though. Last episode we watched tonight was when Luffy returned to Marineford. I wish the anime wasn’t so far behind :/ And I was really into Naruto before as well but once I watched One Piece I was no longer as interested. Haha. Thinking of doing the original Dragonball next with the wife since it gave me the similar vibe that One Piece does (I never watched the entire series either and I read it was a major inspiration to Eiichiro Oda). Held off for awhile because I did not like DBZ. Was quite shocked at how different it was at the few episodes I watched.

Thanks! I first got her into some anime films when we were dating - Howl’s Moving Castle, Spirited Away, and other Studio Ghibli films. For shows I started her out with Naruto, which we both kind of like but hate at the same time (keep watching to see what happens basically) but once we got caught up in that I had just finished One Piece and MADE her sit down and watch some episodes because I was in love. It didn’t take her as long to get into One Piece like it did Naruto. Sad thing is, we are almost caught up on One Piece and I have no clue what we’ll watch next.
chopper would be easier to look at than ivankov. XD although ivankov is pretty awesome as a character

Actually, I think you are right. She’d get more of a laugh from him on the dry-erase board than Chopper. Hmm… Have him ask to see her panties or just have him do a joke about not being alive. OR even just have him leaning against the edge of the board and yelling, “45 degrees!”
Downside to having these drawings up on the dry-erase board though: I worry pest control or whatever at our apartment complex is going to come in and see the things I put on there when we aren’t home. Probably think we’re a couple of freaks haha. Oh well, we enjoy it. That’s all that matters right?
