Tomorrow will be my first day at the University of Iowa. I’m excited as hell to finally focus on my major - English (will be with a focus on creative writing once I apply for it for the fall). I’m a bit nervous though, since I don’t know anyone and I’ve never had this many literature courses at once. I’ll miss all the free time I had to play video games while I was getting my associate degree at Kirkwood haha.
Fellow English/ creative writing majors at UIowa - Hello!
So since Quinn and I are going abroad next semester we really need someone to sublease from us. I hope you all don’t mind me posting this, I’m trying every resource I know.

The pond by our apartment next to Willow Creek Park in Iowa City. Really needs to get cleaned, it is basically all algae now. (Taken with Instagram)
Someone had these Star Wars stickers to represent their family at the mall today. Wish I could have asked them if it was Han or Greedo who shot first! (Taken with Instagram)

Long live the People’s Republic of Johnson County. They’re pretty awesome down there at the ol’ Haunted Bookshop.

Real sketch.
The Childish Gambino show was decent though. The sound from where we were sucked and the middle of the crowd near where we were was filled with giant men so it was hard to see, and we we surrounded by annoying girls.
I’m glad I went though. Maybe someday I’ll see him at a better venue.
I recommend you explore it a bit more, it really is a beautiful place. Basing a college/ city after a venue that may not have been up-to-date or to your standards means you are going to be disappointed in a hell of a lot of places.
P.s. If you are a lover of literature, I highly recommend you return and check it out.

I couldn’t make myself wear a Iowa Hawkeyes shirt at the Iowa vs Wisconsin basketball game tonight. As an Iowa State fan, I just couldn’t do it. And since we were in the student section I didn’t wear one of my Iowa State shirts (and my wife and her friends wouldn’t let me). So I did the next best thing.
I wore this since the colors matched and cheered for Hufflepuff. The catch of the snitch at the end was really quite amazing.

I would really like a library bar here in Iowa City. Would make sense since it is 1 of 5 UNESCO Cities of Literature and how there are so many people passionate about literature, poetry, and creative writing living here. Perfect location.
I am looking for a part-time job in Iowa City. Looking for 10 - 15 hours a week (maybe up to more hours depending on the week’s homework load - taking 5 courses this spring). Any suggestions or work somewhere that is currently hiring?
And Sally Mason’s opinion is one which I respect and appreciate - if I don’t always agree with it.
Great response to Stephen Bloom’s horrible article.
